Fly to Space
Rocket Inflation Interactive Installation | 2024 | 'Vacation in Solar System' Space Exploration Park
Parents and children power the rocket by stepping on a pedal. Pressing the launch button makes the rocket take off, with the screen showing different endings. The work uses air pressure and real-time rendering to link the rocket launch with planetary movement, offering a mixed virtual and real experience that sparks curiosity about space.

Rocket Launch Process

Idle state
The solar system is displayed in real planetary motion speed ratio. If no physical rocket is placed, none appears on the screen.

Placing rocket
When a physical rocket is placed on the installation, a corresponding model appears on the screen's launchpad.

Inflating rocket
Audiences step on the power-up device, and the energy bar on the screen gradually fills, readying the rocket for launch.

Launching rocket
Pressing the launch button triggers the rocket's liftoff, with its outcome determined by the energy bar's level. After launch, the system resets to standby mode.
Different Ending Settings

Insufficient power
The rocket fell back to the launch pad and the launch failed

First cosmic velocity
Flying above the earth's surface and orbiting the Earth

Second cosmic velocity
Break through gravity and fly to Mars, Venus and other planets

Third cosmic velocity
Fly away from the solar system and orbit around it
